Welcome to our research homepage on Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR)!

Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR) refers to the experience of a tingling sensation on the skin ("tingles"), usually occurring on the scalp, neck and upper spine. The experience of ASMR is mostly accompanied by a sense of well-being and relaxation.

ASMR can be triggered by a wide variety of audio-visual triggers, such as watching another person tapping on surfaces or watching role-plays or massages.

The ASMR phenomenon is currently receiving special worldwide attention via Internet platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. On these platforms, a large number of videos are uploaded that are explicitly designed to trigger the characteristic ASMR experience in other people.

On this homepage you will find comprehensive information about the current state of ASMR research. You will also find an overview of the studies currently being conducted by our team on the topic of ASMR.
